I'd completely forgotten it existed, though Boutell used to be a pretty well-known provider of web-related tools (back in the days when there were only a few dozen people who knew what a web-based application was). I haven't seen a WUsage installation in years. I think the Analytics module will handle it as well (but I might be wrong about that one). It isn't free, but it's got some nice features. Another choice is 'Clicky' which is a service like Google Analytics. Piwik seeks to be an Open Source replacement for Google Analytics, and it's well on its way to being a pretty good option. I think we have Webalizer and AWStats configured and processing, as well, but I haven't looked at them in a couple of years.I get more useful data in an easier to read format from Google Analytics. It’s important to understand what each is capable of tracking. Because of that, they can show different numbers. These systems have a similar purpose, but measure things in different ways.

We use Google Analytics for our sites (also available in the Analytics plugin, obviously), and it works quite well for most things-I don't know that we'll stick with it forever, as it does have some negatives (one of them being that we no longer have exclusive ownership of the data, which is probably not a huge issue, but it's still a moderate concern). Some customers who track visitors using AWStats (which we provide) also use Google Analytics, or other software that tracks statistics like a WordPress plugin. It's a pretty nice tool with a lot of cool features, and a really nice looking UI. Those rules are updated with AWStats updates.
AWStats has url syntax rules for the most popular search engines (that's the 'number detected'). I will point out that we've just added Piwik into the next version-it ties into the Analytics module to insert the JavaScript bug automatically. AWStats will report 500 visits from robots and 2000 visits from human visitors.Sawmill Analytics uses a 'currently active' list of robots based on the database. They both have their strengths and weaknesses, and neither is perfect.
